Context

Krystal Collective is a bilingual DJ and live entertainment company serving weddings, corporate events, and school events across Austin, Texas. When the business launched, it had no digital presence, no website, no booking flow, no brand. I designed and built everything from scratch: the logo, the visual identity, the site architecture, the copy, and the conversion strategy.

Three years in, the business had grown beyond the original site's scope. Services had expanded from DJ-only to include live instruments, photobooths, photography, and videography. The site needed to reflect that growth while sharpening the conversion funnel.

The real Problem

Most of Krystal's bookings come from referrals, not cold search. This is a critical insight that shaped the entire design strategy. The site's primary job is not to generate strangers. It is to validate and convert warm leads, people who were referred by someone they trust, who then Google the business to confirm it's legit before committing.

A referred lead arrives with intent. They're not browsing, they're verifying. The site has to answer one question in under 10 seconds: "Can I trust these people with my wedding?" Everything else is secondary.

That reframe changed every design decision, the hero copy, the social proof placement, the service clarity, the friction reduction in the booking flow.

Design decisions

Trust-first hero

Lead with credibility signals immediately, "100+ Austin events. Bilingual DJs. Live sax & violin." Specificity builds trust faster than generic claims.

Photo + review pairing

Real event photos alongside real Google reviews in a single scroll section. Visual proof of energy paired with written proof of reliability, both objections addressed together.

Service segmentation

Weddings, Corporate, and School Events each have distinct entry points. Different buyers have different concerns, the navigation reflects that without overwhelming the homepage.

Low-friction CTA

The warm-to-cool gradient (Deep Rose → purple → blue) pulls from Apple's vibrant color vocabulary, energetic, premium, and immediately recognizable as part of the ecosystem.

Before → After: redesign scope

  • Minimal social proof integration

After (April 2025)

  • Cohesive identity across all pages

  • 3-step booking flow on homepage

Service lines designed into a single cohesive brand

The site consistently converts referred traffic into booked consultations. Its credibility infrastructure, perfect review rating, event photography, transparent pricing by segment, and client portal access, removes every barrier a warm lead encounters between discovery and commitment.

Reflection

What I'd push further

With the site live for under a month, the next priority is SEO performance tracking, establishing baseline rankings for "Austin wedding DJ" and related terms and building a content strategy around the blog to capture organic search traffic over time. The referral engine is strong; the goal now is building a parallel cold acquisition channel to reduce dependency on word of mouth.
